Opening Day at the New Mountain Air Bike Skills Course
Went up to Burnaby Mountain today for the first public day of the new Mountain Air Bike Skills Course. There was an official opening earlier, but today was the real deal — the community actually getting to ride it.
Big crowd. Riders of every age, families staking out spots along the pump track, kids lining up for their first runs. The scale of what the city built here is honestly impressive — jump lines, flow trails, a BMX section, all connected back into the larger Burnaby Mountain trail network.
One thing worth mentioning for parents: each run is marked by skill level, beginner through expert, so there's a real progression path. If your kid is just learning to jump, this looks like a great, controlled environment to build that skill safely — you're not throwing them onto something built for experienced riders.
This is the kind of investment that pays off for years. Good to see it finally open, and good to be up there among the crowd on day one.
